Brooklyn Nets Community Assist

Brooklyn Nets Assist is committed to giving back and bettering the lives of those in the surrounding communities. We strive to positively impact the community’s youth and adults through various initiatives and programs focusing on the following four pillars: Education, Athletics, Health & Wellness and Community Development.

BROOKLYN NETS BASKETBALL DEVELOPMENT

Brooklyn Nets Basketball Development was created to foster relationships between youth athletics, schools, and community centers to establish a greater awareness of Brooklyn Nets Basketball while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, good health and a greater understanding of the game of basketball.

BROOKLYN FIT

Brooklyn Fit is a health & wellness program that will expose school-age children from non-profit organizations to various ways of staying fit while having fun. Participants will meet on a monthly basis for activities consisting of karate, dance, volleyball, tennis and much more.

FIT WEEK

NBA FIT is the league’s comprehensive health and wellness program that encourages physical activity and healthy living for children and families through grassroots programs, events, products and promotional opportunities. During Fit week, we conduct various initiatives such as fit clinics, fit contest in-arena and fitness vignettes featuring Nets players, the Brooklynnettes and superhero.

READ TO ACHIEVE

The Brooklyn Nets Read to Achieve program includes various events such as reading time-outs, player appearances and school visits in an effort to emphasize the importance of reading and receiving an education. The Nets All-Star reading team consists of Nets players, Brooklynettes, coaches and management staff.

SEASON OF GIVING

Throughout the “Season of Giving,” the Nets reach out to the community and help those in need during the holiday season. “Season of Giving” activities include the annual Thanksgiving meal, a holiday party for underprivileged children, toy giveaways, coat drives, toy drives, hospital visits and a holiday shtopping spree.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH

Brooklyn Nets are proud to celebrate Black History Month throughout February. Month-long activities will involve special interactive features on the NETS website, community appearances by Nets players and in-arena vignettes.

GREEN WEEK

Throughout NBA Green Week, the Nets, the league, teams, and players take steps to be more environmentally friendly by encouraging fans to get involved in local greening initiatives. During NBA Green Week, the Nets take part in green efforts including hands-on community service projects, recycling programs, green giveaways, auction to support environmental organizations and promotions to encourage fans to “Go Green.”

ROCK & WRAP IT UP

After each home game, the Nets, Barclays Center and Rock and Wrap It Up collect all unused prepared but not served food and donate it to shelters and soup kitchens throughout Brooklyn.

NETS FOUNDATION

The NETS Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life in the metropolitan area by supporting programs and initiatives that focus on youth, education and strengthening communities. By feeding those in need, hosting holiday parties for kids and their families, sponsoring basketball camps and providing interaction with players at community organizations such as the Boys & Girls Clubs, the Nets Foundation has touched the lives of many.

THE EXPERIENCE

The Experience is a 40 foot interactive trailer. The exterior includes a regulation sized basketball hoop, scoreboard, two Playstations and a Nintendo Wii. On the interior there is a social media section where you can “Like” us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter. In addition there is a 70 inch television along with two seats to view the Barclays Center simulated seating chart. The Experience is touring neighborhoods throughout Brooklyn and the Metropolitan area.

VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

Every month throughout the year Brooklyn Nets players and employees volunteer their time at various non-profit organizations. Recent projects include 9/11 care packages, beautifying children’s centers, providing work tips for developmentally disabled adults and much more.

NBA CARES

NBA Cares is the league's global social responsibility program that builds on the NBA's mission to address important social issues in the United States and around the world. Through this program, the NBA, its teams and players have donated than $200 million to charity, completed more than 1.9 million hours of hands-on community service, and created more than 720 places where kids and families can live, learn, or play, in 23 countries and territories on five continents. NBA Cares works with internationally recognized youth-serving programs that support education, youth and family development, and health-related causes, including: KaBOOM!, Special Olympics, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, UNICEF, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis.
